SPEAKER INSTRUCTIONS (july 2009)1. Before the conference: preparation of your presentation Presentations must be submitted in Microsoft Power Point format (2003 or 2007 versions). It is strongly recommended that presenters save their Power Point presentations with True Type fonts attached if atypical ones are used. We recommend to insert Excel figures or tables as pictures into PowerPoint presentations. The only acceptable transfer medium is an USB flashdrive (memory sticks). DVD, Floppy disks, ZIP‐disks or any other storage media are not acceptable. It is the speaker's responsibility to ensure the format of his/her presentation will work with Microsoft Powerpoint (2003 or 2007) for PCs, and that the CD, DVD-ROM or memory stick is readable on PC laptops. MAC users: heed the following instructions Keynote presentations can be saved in PowerPoint format, but some parts of the presentation might not be copied correctly. If possible, run your presentation on a computer (Vista or XP + office2007) to check compatibility. QuickTime movies cannot be played from PowerPoint on Microsoft windows computers. You need to decode your QuickTime files into wmv (windows media video). Bring your QuickTime movie and your wmv with you to the conference. When you export a Keynote presentation to PowerPoint your QuickTime video files and pictures will normally be added. But check to be sure. Mac uses QuickTime to display pictures in PowerPoint or Keynote. When transferring to windows PowerPoint it is possible that some pictures may be missing in your presentation: bring your pictures from your presentation separately with you. 2. At ISTA14 All oral presenters are required to submit an electronic version of their presentation by 6:00 pm on the day preceding their presentation on site in the Speaker Preparation Room. PRESENTATIONS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED FROM PERSONAL LAPTOPS. All presentations, and in particular those prepared on platforms other than windows (MacIntosh) should be checked by the author for compatibility with the windows platform (Windows XP + Office 2007) prior to the presentation. No audio will be available on the projector computer. All presentations will be loaded on the main projector computer the day preceding talks. Authors are strongly encouraged to bring an additional electronic copy for added security against unanticipated software/hardware anomalies. 3. During the session You are expected to notify the session chair of your presence before the session so that he/she knows you are present. There will be no rearrangement of papers within an oral session to accommodate absences or cancellations, so the time you have been assigned within the oral session is fixed and unchangeable. |
